Spinning on a Wheel

Introduction to Spinning on a Wheel.
4  classes Mondays from 6:30-8:30pm
from April 3rd to the 24th.

Learn to use a spinning wheel, learn about yarns and how to make your own handspun usable yarns. We will explore and understand:
  • About the wheel – the parts, types of wheels
  • How yarns are made – single, 2 ply…and beyond
  • Drafting, speed and controlling twist
  • Types of fibre, fibre prep, Woolen vs. Worsted (not knitting)
  • Playing with fibre
  • What to do with your first handspun??? – Save it! Use it! It’s one of a kind….It’s beautiful!
Your hand spun yarn can be successfully used in knitting, crocheting, weaving, tapestry, rug hooking and other needle or fibre arts.

Note: Home practice is involved. You will be able to bring the wheel home with you after each class. A credit card number is required for deposit before the first class.

Prerequisite: No experience necessary, but a willingness to learn and discover are essential.
Cost: $225- This includes 8 hrs of instruction, the use of a Lendrum wheel and accessories to bring home for practice, a selection of exquisite fibres to play with, and a $20 rebate should you choose to purchase your wheel ($799-$20= $779 special class price).
What to bring with you: Empty toilet paper and/or paper towl rolls (2 or 3 per person),
string tags or masking tape for labeling mini-skeins, pen, pencil, scissors and note pad.

Cancellation policy: If KnitTraders or the teacher finds it necessary to cancel a class, participants will of course receive a full refund or store credit. 
Registered participants who are unable to attend must cancel at least 2 weeks before the class is scheduled in order to receive a full refund or store credit. After that, a partial or complete credit for a future class will be considered depending on if the place is able to be filled.
